Epithalon / Epitalon
Reset the aging clock at the genomic level.
SC injection; IV infusion — 5–10 mg SC injection nightly in cycles of 10–20 days; 5 mg IV in STABILIS formula; typically 1–2 cycles per year
What It Is
Epitalon (also spelled Epithalon) is a pineal gland tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) that has been studied for over 30 years, especially in Russia, as a geroprotective compound.
Mechanism
Epitalon works by activating telomerase, the enzyme that lengthens telomeres, thereby potentially extending cellular lifespan. In landmark studies, Epitalon treatment in cell cultures upregulated telomerase and elongated telomeres in aging somatic cells. Animal experiments showed it could increase average and maximum lifespan, reduce incidence of tumors, improve immune function, and restore melatonin secretion in older rats. Clinically, one study found that over a year, patients on Epitalon had a significant lengthening of telomeres (up to 33% increase) in their white blood cells.
How Dr. Emer Uses It
The Emer Method incorporates Epitalon in its highest-tier RE:BIRTH™ protocol as a way to "reset the aging clock" at the genomic level. It is typically administered in cycles (10–20 mg per day for 10–20 days, 1–2 times per year), often coinciding with the equinoxes or patient's birthday — symbolically starting a new cycle of rejuvenation. In the STABILIS IV it appears at 5 mg IV as a telomerase-modulating peptide for fragile or older skin to push repair mechanisms. In the Longevity Stack it is cycled with MOTS-c and NAD+ for mitochondrial and telomeric support.
Key Benefits
- ✓Activates telomerase to lengthen telomeres and extend cellular lifespan
- ✓Upregulates telomere length in white blood cells (up to 33% increase in studies)
- ✓Restores melatonin secretion and normalizes circadian rhythm
- ✓Improves immune function and reduces tumor incidence in animal models
- ✓Improves sleep quality via normalized pineal/melatonin axis
- ✓Genomic stability support and cell senescence delay

Safety & Considerations
Epitalon has a strong safety record. Decades of use in Eastern Europe have not shown serious side effects or increased cancer (a concern with telomerase activation, but Epitalon appears not to induce malignant changes; in fact it may reduce cancer incidence by improving immune surveillance). Minor reported side effects include transient insomnia or vivid dreams (likely from melatonin cycle shifts) and headaches in a few patients. Experimental; human data limited but no acute adverse events documented.
